Locronan campsite is 10 minutes from Douarnenez. Take time to visit this city during your stay at Locronan.
The first outstanding impression of Douarnenez is the the magnificent view of its bay from the “Montagne de Locronan”, which you enjoy a stone’s throw from the campsite. Douarnenez is also the city with 4 ports, including the port museum. Some boats welcome visitors. We are a partner of the port-museum… thus granting preferential fares to our guests (information at the campsite reception).
Every 2 years (even years), come and experience the Douarnenez maritime festival and admire magnificent ships, enjoy shows, concerts and many activities on site.
Douarnenez is the place where the famous Kouign-amann was invented, this pastry is very rich in butter and sugar but it tastes so good! You will be able to buy one from the bakery/pastry-shop in Locronan.
Facing Douarnenez stands Tristan Island, accessible by foot at low tide. The island features an exotic botanical garden among other things. You might find out the treasure which was buried there, according to the legend…
Douarnenez has several beautiful beaches for the children’s (and parent’s!) greatest delight.
“Les Plomarc’h” natural site features authentic old low fishermen houses, and also a farm held by the local Council! Take a walk with your family and admire ancient breeds. This educational farm is located in a protected area and remains freely accessible. It is also equipped with games for children, which makes it an essential place for family walks not far from Locronan campsite. Gallo-Roman remains of sardine salting tanks are still visible near the farm.
Art is also strongly established in Douarnenez. It is a city of painters indeed. Many famous artists have been there for a long time (Boudin, Renoir, Sérusier, Picabia,…), capturing sublime landscapes for ever.
Douarnenez market takes place every morning in the halls, get your fresh fish there!
To make it short, just keep in mind that Douarnenez is a must-see place to experience during your holiday at Locronan Campsite.
